Diane Darst Learning to Look® Family Art Appreciation Day
Sunday, December 15, 2013 1:00 – 3:00 pm
This program is designed especially for families and children to foster appreciation and understanding of art related to current Museum exhibitions and based on the Learning to Look® curriculum developed by Diane W. Darst and Sue Ann Massey Williamson. Today’s program will be presented in conjunction with the Bruce Museum exhibition Inside the Artist’s Studio: Small Scale Views. The lessons will be led by a Learning to Look Instructor beginning at 1:15 pm, repeated at 2:15 p.m., and will focus on artists’ depictions of studios. There will be art making activities in the Education Workshop. All activities are free with Museum admission, are fully accessible and suitable for people of all abilities and ages.
Look and See: Small Scale Artist Studios

A program especially designed for children ages 3-5 years and their adult caregivers, who will explore the Museum’s exhibition through hands-on experiences, stories and more. Children will explore the exhibition and then make their own miniature buildings. Members $5, non-members $7 per child, per class. Parents/guardians are free. Lifetime of Looking: Artist Studios on a Small Scale

For Seniors and their Caregivers
A program especially designed for seniors with memory loss and their caregivers, who will explore the exhibition with Museum educators to provide meaningful cultural experiences and personal enrichment. Panel Discussion: A Conversation with the Artists
Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 7:30 pm
Join us for a panel discussion featuring artists in the exhibition discussing their work and the role creating small-scale models to further their artistic visions. Artists on the panel include Joe Figg, Richard Haas, and Laurie Nix, and will be moderated by Christian Viveros-Faune, art critic and independent curator.
