Icon Awards in the Arts 2012

The third annual Icon Awards, held on Thursday, April 26, honored those whose dedication to the arts has enriched out greater community. Co-chairs for this years event were Patricia Chadwick and Michel Witmer. Over 160 people attended this elegent ceremony and cocktail party, held at a private residence in Greenwich, to honor the nominees. This year the Bruce Museum recognized:

Artist - Chuck Close

Family Benefit 2012

This years Family Benefit delighted young and old as we celebrated our exhibition Walter Wick: Games, Gizmos and Toys in the Attic. Proceeds benefited children's education and scholarship programs at the Bruce Museum.

Nearly 400 people attended the benefit held at the Bruce Museum. This years co-chairs were Jessica Mindich and Joline Stemerman, and with there hard work, along with their committees, organized a fantastic event, rain or shine. Children enjoyed making Walter Wick inspired crafts, face-painting and live perfromances by Broadway actors from the New Paradigm Theater. For the parents there was a silent auction which featured a rare print by Walter Wick, a private cruise with catering, and handmade fine jewelry to name a few.

Peter C. Sutton's 10-Year Anniversary Celebration

Nearly 200 people joined in celebration of Peter Sutton's tenth anniversary as the Susan E. Lynch Executive Director of the Bruce Museum. The fundraising gala, co-chaired by Leah Rukeyser and Jill Tesei, was a lovely affair with delicious hors d'oeuvres catered by Chef Jerwin, beautiful pastries donated by Versailles Bakery and wine and champagne donated by Horseneck Wines and Liquors. The highlights of the evening were a Town of Greenwich proclamation presented by Peter Tesei, declaring August 31, 2011, the official tenth anniversary of Peter's first day as the Bruce Museum's Executive Director, as "Peter C. Sutton Day" and a certificate from the U.S. Senate presented by Senator Richard Blumenthal.

Thank you to those who underwrote various aspects of the party: Deborah and Charles Royce, Susan E. Lynch, Coverly and Homer Rees and Leah and Bob Rukeyser, to those who made donations to the Bruce Museum in Peter's honor and to those who purchased tickets and joined in the festivities.

Bruce Museum Icon Awards in the Arts

The second annual Icon Awards in the Arts honored those who have demonstrated commitment to the arts. Co-chairs for this year's event were Susan Mahoney and Michael Grunberg. Artists, collectors, art business leaders, art critics, patrons of the arts, and art historians were honored in an evening ceremony and cocktail event which took place at a private residence in Greenwich. Proceeds benefited the Bruce Museum's exhibition and education programs. The Museum recognized the following honorees:

Family Benefit

Circus! Family and Fun Under the Big Top

The Bruce Museum was delighted to entertain about 600 participants at this family-focused event on the grounds of the Museum. In addition to being a fun and activity-filled afternoon, the event provided crucial support for the daily operations of the Museum and funds for special exhibitions and educational programs.

Event co-chairs Lisa Short Fritsch and Julie Woods, along with their energetic committee, organized a spectacular afternoon for the entire family. The Big Apple Circus' Circus to Go provided a unique array of entertainment along with educational activities for children -- all in celebration of the exhibition Circus! Art and Science Under the Big Top.
