The Painted Furniture of Philadelphia, 1800-1820

Alexandra Alevizatos Kirtley will address the Philadelphia area painted furniture of the early 1800s. Her presentation will cover the makers, patrons and the space in which this extraordinary and unrivaled furniture was used. We will learn the significance of its design, creation and history and its place in the landscape of early America. Current conservation treatments will also be discussed.
Alexandra Kirtley graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in art history, and earned a master’s degree from Winterthur program in early American culture.
Admission for non-members of the Greenwich Decorative Arts Society is $25. Space is limited.
