Shellfishing in Greenwich Cove

On Sunday, November 4, 1:30 – 4:00 pm, the Greenwich Shellfish Commission will premiere a new documentary movie and demonstrate how to harvest clams and oysters in local waters.

"The Weir Oyster Project,” filmed by John Motay over the last two years, features the Shellfish Commission’s recent work starting an oyster bed from scratch in a cove in Greenwich.

Participants who want to learn first-hand the skill of finding mollusks during low tide should wear waterproof footgear.

Commission members will also be on hand to discuss progress on their collaboration with University of Connecticut regarding shellfishing in the Long Island Sound.

The program is part of the Bruce Museum Seaside Center’s Fred Elser First Sunday Science Series, at the Innis Arden Cottage in Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich.

For more information, contact Seaside Center Manager Cynthia Ehlinger at cynthiae@brucemuseum.org or 203.413.6756.

For all ages.

Free; no registration required.
