How to Schedule an In-Person or Virtual Museum Visit

Adult and school groups require advance reservations and are subject to a special group fee.

Virtual Field Trips for schools, educational organizations, etc. are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Programs on Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, are subject to staff availability.

In-Person Field Trips for schools, educational organizations, etc. are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Currently, we are able to accommodate only one group of 5 students plus chaperones at a time. Programs on Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, are subject to staff availability.

When we are able to accommodate larger groups in the building again, this information will be updated.

When leaving a message, please be prepared to give:

●      Your name / Organization name

  • Organization address
  • Organization phone number and your cell phone number
  • Program Titles / Grade level of students
  • Class size & number of classes
  • Special needs, if any
  • Preferred dates and times
  • Two alternate dates and times

In order to get the dates of your choice, we suggest you schedule as far in advance as possible. We do not accept any program reservations for less than 4 weeks in advance.

A confirmation/invoice will be e-mailed six weeks prior to the program. Pre-payment is preferred. Payment can be made by check (payable to Bruce Museum, Inc.), cash, or credit card.

●      For in-person, museum visits the charge is $5 per student. Chaperones are not charged.

●      For virtual field trips, there is a flat fee of $75 per program per class.

Thanks to the generosity of our corporate members and sponsors, scholarships are available under special circumstances. Please visit Scholarships for further information.

Rescheduling & Cancellations

All fees paid in advance will be fully refunded as long as the cancellation is made 24 hours in advance. Program fees can be applied if a program is rescheduled. 

No Eating Facilities are available at the Museum

Picnic facilities are available in Bruce Park on a first-come-first-served basis. 

Class Size

Currently, in-person group tours at the Museum are limited to one group of 5 students plus chaperones at a time. In order to maintain quality education, virtual field trips are limited to 25 students. 

Program Length

Programs for students in Pre-K and K are 45 minutes. Programs for students in grades 1 and up are 1 hour.

Supervision: REQUIRED for all programs

Museum visit: 1 adult for every 5 children, to accompany the children at all times.

Self-guided tours: If you would like your class to tour the rest of the Museum after the scheduled program, you must tell us when you make your reservation to avoid conflict with other groups.

Nametags: Help to personalize programs and enhance student behavior.

Conduct

In order to enhance everyone's enjoyment and safety while at the Museum, please go over these rules with your students in advance:

  • All visitors to the Museum (except children under 2 years of age and those with breathing difficulties) are required to wear a mask at all times while in the building, as per CDC regulations. 
  • Please walk in the Museum.
  • Please talk in quiet voices.
  • Please refrain from touching paintings or objects.
  • There is no eating or drinking in the galleries, all food or drink must be left in the coatroom.

Special requests or curriculum needs

All of the programs are flexible and can be adapted to audiences with special needs or to your group’s curriculum objectives. Please discuss with the Museum Education staff in advance.

Museum Store

Educational groups are welcome to visit the Museum Store in groups of 5, with supervising adults. Students may purchase a wide variety of fun and educational toys, and educators always receive 10% off any purchases made while visiting the Museum Store.
