Bruce Beginnings, Family Days, and more!
Come to the Bruce and take part in our exciting new children and family programming!
No advance registration is required and programs are free with Museum admission unless otherwise noted.
Tuesdays, 11:00 to 11:45 am and 1:00 to 1:45 pm
Bruce Beginnings programs are designed for children ages 2.5 - 5 and their adult caregivers, who will explore the Museum's collections and exhibitions through picture books and hands-on activities. Topics rotate between art and science. Space for this program is limited; participants must see the Visitor Service desk upon arrival to the Museum.
Bruce Beginnings, Jr.
Second Thursdays of each month, 9:45 to 10:45 am
This hour long program provides a welcoming and engaging museum experience for toddlers, ages 10-24 months, and their caregivers through hands-on play and exploration. Sessions are inspired by the museum’s collections and exhibits. Space for this program is limited; participants must see the Visitor Service desk upon arrival to the Museum.
Learning to Look® Family Gallery Tours
Most Sundays 11:30 am to 12:15 pm
This tour takes children ages 5 and up, and their caregivers, through the Museum’s exhibitions. Families will be able to engage in conversations about the arts, sciences, and do hands-on activities based on Learning to Look®, an arts appreciation curriculum developed by the late Diane Darst and Sue Massey McTaggart.
Science Solvers and Art Adventures
Alternating Saturdays and Sundays, 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Drop-in monthly programs designed for children 4 and up and their families to explore simple science and art concepts while partaking in kid-friendly experiments, projects, or crafts inspired by the Museum's exhibitions and collections. Every other weekend families will be able to get interactive with science topics, or make art or complete exhibition related activities. Check the calendar for dates.
Family Studio Workshops
Select Sundays, 1:00 to 2:30 pm
A 1 1/2-hour program for children age 4 and up with their families. Participants will create a work of art inspired by the Museum's collections and exhibitions! This program is $7 per person for members and $15. for non-members, plus the cost of Museum admission. Registration required at brucemuseum.org/site/events.
Afternoons at the Bruce
Select school vacation days, 2:00 to 4:30pm
Spend the afternoon off from school discovering, learning and creating! Workshops are designed for grades K-5 and explore the museum’s collections and exhibitions. Members $15, $25 for non-members. Snack included! Advanced registration is required at brucemuseum.org/site/events.
Select Sundays 1:00 to 4:00 pm
Check the calendar for family-oriented afternoons featuring activities, entertainment and fun learning for all ages. Themes vary.
Bruce Moose Activity Packs
Designed to help families explore the Museum’s galleries in a more fun and hands-on way. Each pack contains four to five objects and activities that will encourage more looking, more learning, and more discoveries! Bruce Moose Packs are free and available for loan at the Front Desk. Ask a Visitor Services Associate for more details.
