As a privately funded organization, the Bruce relies on its generous friends and supporters to meet the costs of creating exhibitions, educating youth and adults and providing countless programs throughout the year to more than 100,000 visitors. More than 75% of our budget goes to exhibitions and programs; only 5% to administration.

Create a legacy for generations to come at the Bruce Museum and in the community! We invite you to join the New Century Society of the Bruce Museum. Follow in the footsteps of Robert M. Bruce, a successful business leader in Greenwich and philanthropist who bequeathed his home to the Town of Greenwich over 100 years ago. Since then, many generations of benefactors of the Bruce have left important legacies in the community through planned gifts. These gifts ensure that the Bruce can continue to offer world class exhibitions and educational programs for tens of thousands of visitors each year. We are deeply grateful to our friends who have so generously included the Bruce Museum in their estate planning.
By becoming a member of the New Century Society, you join the Bruce family of supporters who acknowledge the Bruce’s importance as a cultural asset in our greater community and offer a vote of confidence in the Museum’s next 100 years. Through a planned gift, you and your family play a vital role in the future of the institution. You also help ensure that the Museum will continue to serve future visitors of all ages.
Upon joining the New Century Society, you will receive special invitations to Museum lectures and events, and will be listed, if you wish, as a member of the New Century Society in our annual report and other publications.

A Planned Gift that Pays You Income
A number of life income plans provide a revenue stream for you (and a survivor) during your lifetime(s). By establishing a trust with securities, you will provide for the future of the Bruce Museum and may increase your income, avoid capital gains taxes, and receive a significant income tax charitable deduction.
Income to the Bruce Museum and Remaining Assets to Your Heirs
Several different types of trusts benefit you and the Museum. We recommend that you discuss the various types with your financial advisors and estate planner.
A Charitable Remainder Trust receives cash or securities from a donor, makes payments to the donor(s) during their lifetime(s) or term of years, and then distributes the remaining assets to the Bruce.
A Charitable Lead Trust pays income to the Bruce Museum for a defined period. At the end of the term, the remaining assets pass directly to your heirs or designated beneficiaries. Any growth is passed at reduced or no tax cost.
Charitable Gift Annuities, a contract between a donor and the Museum, are a way to provide the Museum with a generous gift and to provide a fixed income stream for the donor’s lifetime. The donor can reduce taxes.
