Join the Bruce Museum as a Volunteer Docent!

The Bruce Museum seeks energetic, welcoming individuals to join the all-volunteer docent team, starting in September 2026. Docents provide the Museum with critical support by leading museum tours and programs for 30,000 participants of all ages. Before leading programs, docents receive training from Museum staff, exhibition curators, and fellow docents during training sessions, which typically take place on Mondays. Training resources, exhibition information, and related reference materials are available on the docent website. Tours take place throughout the week; docents self-select the programs they lead and age groups they work with. In addition to leading programs and attending training sessions, docents participate in group field trips to local museums and enjoy a yearly awards event.

All accepted applicants start as new docents and undergo a year of training before graduating to veteran docent status.  For more information, please contact Kathleen Holko, Director of Audience Engagement, at kholko@brucemuseum.org.
