Art Workshop: Art Meets Science
Monday July, 7 2025 10am–12pm, Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage, Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich, CT
Bruce Museum Seaside Center in the historic Innis Arden Cottage at Greenwich Point Park.
In this two hour class located at the beautiful Seaside Center, we will learn about some of the intersections between art and science as well as methods in observational artwork before participants will have the chance to either create sculptures or watercolor paintings inspired by some of the amazing specimens, plants and wildlife found here in our local ecosystem!
Guidance will be provided throughout the class, and all levels are welcome to join. This class is designed for older students (at least 12 years old) and adults of all skill levels to get creative and paint or sculpt something inspired by the ecology of Long Island Sound and our unique park here! If time allows, participants may have the opportunity to engage in both media.
This class will be taught by Phin Anibal, a 2023 artist-in-residence at Shoals Marine Lab and a current Master's Candidate in the Art and Science program at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria. Phin has studied both ecology and studio art, with experience combining the two fields through gallery work, art instruction, and scientific research.
Ages 12 and up recommended. All experience levels welcome!
All materials will be provided; however, you are also welcome to bring your own.
Fees: $40 for Bruce Museum members, $50 for nonmembers.
A beach pass is not necessary.
