Georgia Hunter Cinema at the Bruce We Were the Lucky Ones

Georgia Hunter has loved to write since she was a child growing up in rural Massachusetts. When she was fifteen years old, she discovered that she came from a family of Holocaust survivors. Years later, she embarked on a journey of intensive research, determined to unearth and record her grandfather's remarkable story. The result is We Were the Lucky Ones, a gripping saga that follows three generations of the Kurc family as they scatter across continents during the Second World War, on a mission to survive, and to reunite.

We Were the Lucky Ones spent over four months on the New York Times Beer List, has been translated into over twenty languages and was selected as a top pick by Harper’s Bazaar, People Magazine and Audible, among others. It was adapted in 2023 for television by Hulu into a highly acclaimed limited series.

Georgia’s second book, One Good Thing, a historical novel set in WWII Italy, was released in 2025. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, their two sons, and their Aussie Shepherd, Dash.
