Jordan Prado, a Bruce Museum Seaside Center Naturalist, will share how sea star wasting disease has done severe damage across marine ecosystems not only on the pacific coast but here in the northeast as well. This talk will begin with an introduction as to what sea star wasting disease is, its impact along the pacific coast, and efforts being done to restore ecosystems. Then Jordan will explain how though, not as prevalent on the east coast, sea star wasting disease has taken its toll specifically in the northeast and what potential issues may arise. The lecture will conclude with information on what we can expect in the future regarding sea star population in both the pacific and Atlantic oceans.
