MLK Day: Community Heroes

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with us on Monday, January 19, as we honor the everyday heroes who strengthen our community. This year’s theme, “Community Heroes,” shines a spotlight on those who inspire through acts of service, kindness, and leadership. Bring the whole family for a day filled with interactive activities, creative crafts, and hands-on projects that show how each of us can make a difference.
What to Expect
- Meet local community helpers and learn about the many ways people serve and support others.
- Enjoy hands-on, family-friendly activities inspired by helping, caring, and giving back.
- Join Junior Docent–led family gallery experiences connecting art, science, and community.
- Relax in a cozy reading space featuring stories about helpers and heroes.
- Take part in simple service activities that support the broader community.

Learn about the many ways police officers support and serve the community while exploring police equipment.
Meet & Greet: Greenwich Fire Department

Explore firefighting equipment, learn about emergency response, and take part in engaging activities throughout the day.

Create & Donate: Dog Toys with The Sharing Shelf
11am–4pm | Mezzanine
Join The Sharing Shelf to create upcycled dog toys that will be donated to a local animal shelter.
Drop-In Crafts

Drop in for a variety of family-friendly craft activities inspired by Community Heroesand helping others.
