Barite

Guangdong, China Bruce Museum Collection 2019.4.35 Gift of Robert R. Wiener

Barite is a dense mineral, which can be found in a variety of forms. When large crystals of barite grow, they have a tabular form, and can resemble books, decks of cards, or irregular hexagons. Barite is typically white or colorless, but when bearing impurities can take on various colors. This example provides an excellent example of tabular barite crystals and yellow coloration.
