Nancy Matsumoto and her translation team members Mariko Aratani, Kyoko Miyabe, and Eri Yasuhara will center their talk on By the Shore of Lake Michigan, a collection of Nancy's Japanese grandparents Tomiko and Ryokuyō Matsumoto's World War II-era poetry. They will  discuss the value of immigrant poetry and art--especially during fraught times such as the World War II incarceration of people of Japanese descent--in connection with Isamu Nogichi's own voluntary imprisonment at the Poston, Arizona U.S. government prison camp during World War II.
