Bruce Experiences: Tanka Poetry Reading and Translation

Join us for a special afternoon of Tanka poetry reading and translation with author and translator Nancy Matsumoto! The poetry reading takes place in the Isamu Noguchi: Metal the Mirror exhibition, on view April 5–November 16, 2025.

Bio:

Nancy Matsumoto is a writer and editor who specializes in the areas of regenerative agriculture, food, Japanese American culture and art, and Japanese saké. She is the editor of By the Shore of Lake Michigan(UCLA Asian American Studies Press, 2024), an English-language translation of a book of Japanese tanka poetry, and the co-author of the James Beard award-winning Exploring the World of Japanese Craft Sake: Rice Water Earth (Tuttle Publishing, 2022). Her forthcoming book is titled Reaping What She Sows: How Women Are Rebuilding Our Broken Food System (Melville House Publishing).
