Fred Elser First Sunday Science: How the Fishway Works Along the Mianus River

Rebecca Poirier, an Environmental Analyst for the Town of Greenwich Environmental Affairs Department, will speak about the Mianus River Fish Ladder in Cos Cob and the importance of Fish Ladders for the passage of fish and our ecosystem. The ladder is one of 44 fishways throughout Connecticut and is used to count the yearly migration of alewife, blueback herring, and other species that swim upstream to spawn. Rebecca will also discuss the importance of our watersheds to our environment will also be covered during this segment.
