Bruce Presents: World-Building in Movies – A Conversation with Maere Studios

Thursday, December 8, 2022, 6:00 - 7:30 pm

By their very nature, filmmakers are innovators, forced to find creative solutions to environments that don't support their vision. And when they can't change their environment in the moments after they call "ACTION," filmmakers turn to visual effects professionals to help them combat everything from weather to lighting - or even physics - in order to immerse audiences into worlds that are only possible on screen. Post-production, computer-generated imaging is nearly as important now in the movies as the actors themselves. The Bruce Museum invites you to learn from pioneering industry innovators David Ross and Nicholas Ashe Bateman as they share the ways in which they've joined artistry, technology, and storytelling to create worlds and characters beyond a filmmaker's lens.
